Habits Maketh Men

Hey there Sales Pros and Entrepreneurs!

Let's talk about your daily habits. These subtle routines play a colossal role in your sales performance and the revenue you bring to your business. It's time to unravel the science of habits, why they matter, and how to cultivate healthy ones for unstoppable sales success.

“Bad” vs. “Good” Habit Routines

There are no good or bad habits. Some habits boost your dopamine and others boost your serotonin. Both hormones are made to keep you happy and are important for humans. However, dopamine is like a very strong addictive drug that will give you a quick high, and serotonin will give you a stable feeling of happiness.

So you can either turn into a dopamine junkie or regulate yourself with serotonin.

In essence, dopamine will take control of your life and will make you dependent. You will lose your freedom and become ruled by it. Whereas serotonin will keep you stable and happy without any dependence or addiction. It will allow you to choose what is actually good for you and not what you crave to get the next kick.

Dopamine vs. Serotonin Habit Routines Example:

Dopamine Habit Routine: You start your day by snoozing your alarm, rushing through your morning, having a heavy breakfast full of carbs, chunking two cups of coffee, and diving straight into work without a plan. You will probably still be sleepy at work and you will get tired after a few hours. This will affect your focus and productivity throughout the day.

Serotonin Habit Routine: Instead, imagine this. You wake up 1 or 2 hours before going to work, stretch or move in the way you prefer, have lots of water, journal and plan the day for a few minutes, have a coffee or tea, and eat some protein. You’ll get to work ready, awake, and feeling great. This will boost your productivity, your focus, and your fulfillment at work plus it will enhance the quality of your interactions with clients.

How Habits Shape Your Sales Journey

Once you choose to build healthy habits (serotonin-based) you’ll become the architect of your life. That will transfer into your work.

If you educate your body and your mind to wake up whenever you want and not whenever you feel like it, you’ll be more likely to do the tasks at work that you don’t feel like doing but you know are important and will help you get results. Like following up with prospects, updating your CRM, dealing with objections, etc.

In the long run, that will mean hitting your sales targets faster, your team will love to work with you, procrastination will be a thing of the past and most importantly, you’ll be proud of yourself like you’ve never been.

Challenge of the Week

Here's your mission for the week: Take a closer look at your daily habits. Identify one bad habit routine that's been pulling you down in your life and work. It could be waking up late, binge eating, or avoiding follow-ups. Once you've pinpointed them, make a list, and focus on replacing 1 of them every week with a habit that is serotonin-based. You don’t know any? Google it ;)

The Big Takeaway

The key takeaway here is that your daily habits significantly influence your sales performance. They shape how you interact with leads, close deals, and maintain client relationships. Your path to becoming a sales superstar begins with mastering these habits.

By cultivating and nurturing healthy habits, you'll not only enhance your sales skills but also improve your overall quality of life. So, get out there, seize the week, and let your new habits transform you into an unstoppable sales force. The sky's the limit.

Keep growing,

Dario,
